Livonia is a city with a full array of retail and commercial business development on nearly all north-south, east-west mile roads. The city also boasts three large malls and various shopping centers to suit your every need.
One of Livonia's most attractive attributes is a six mile long industrial corridor combining major railroad and highway access to all sections of the metropolitan region. Livonia began as a rural community and has evolved into the eighth largest city in Michigan. Maintaining its attractiveness through historic preservation and the acquisition and development of over 1800 acres of park land, Livonia offers many recreational opportunities.
Livonia offers a diverse assortment of housing to satisfy the needs of every family or individual. These include: single family homes, apartments, condominiums, and senior citizen communities.
The city is dedicated to providing the best in services to it's residents and businesses. A full force of police officers and fire department employees have worked hard to keep Livonia ranked in the top ten of the nation's safest cities. Livonia has also earned high marks nationally for it's public library system which provides thousands of books as well as video and audio cassettes area to citizens through four branches.
In a study released in June, 1995 by Zero Population Growth, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., Livonia was ranked eighth in the country as on of the best places to raise children. it was the only city in Michigan to score in the top 10. Factors considered in the score included air and water quality, education, crime and the percentage of children living in poverty.
